Good Afternoon Readers,

Well, all good things must come to an end.  I am officially getting out of the gasifier business.  It is not due to a lack of interest or sales, I simply do not have the time.  My job as a college instructor is simply taking up ALL of my time.

That said, I would still like to see the business continue so I am putting it up for sale.  My current machines include two Victorias, three final filters, four six inch vehicle cyclones,  several ejector flares and several boxes of miscellaneous development hardware.  I am going to let it all go including the designs for the system for $25K plus shipping.  I am not interesting in licensing agreement, share interests, or anything else.  $25K+ will buy you all the shares in the LLC, website, inventory, the name rights, and all the good will I have established around the world over the years.

I just test burned some 1/2″OD fuel pellets made from leaves.  They burned surprisingly well:

The big surprise was the ash content.  It was only 7% by weight.  Wood is typically 1-2%.  The next step is to figure out whether my gasifier has an appetite for them.

Good Afternoon Readers,

It’s been a long time since I have posted anything new, but that is not to say that things haven’t been going on.  First of all, I have been working with my students at the University of Maine on pelletizing leaves and hay as gasifier fuel.  The guys built a beautiful mill to produce large pellets that will allow the high ash levels to blow through more effectively and hopefully not clinker.

Also in the works is a custom single engine controller that will improve on my past work.  This controller will control the fuel-air ratio and timing advance to optimize power output.

I know that many of you are waiting for hardware.  Hopefully once I get the students graduated and off to the real world I can get back to my shop.

Hi Wood Gassers,

Last year I took a job teaching at a university.  Since then I have struggled to get my latest order out the door.  My customer has been great and I have kept him informed the entire way through.  I also tried to make up for my tardiness by including extra hardware.  HOWEVER(!!!)  this is completely unacceptable on my part.  When I promise a delivery it needs to be met.  That means there needs to be some changes.

From now on I am not going to accept orders or promise hardware until it is COMPLETE and on the shelf available for sale.  You will be able to check my inventory by looking at the bottom of the  “Get Hardware” pages like this one:

I am also going to train my welder to do the assembly work so I can fill his winter slow periods.  Hopefully this strikes a decent balance between production and the craziness of my schedule.
